Alternative spring break

Alternative spring break is a chance to break away from the images of the Spring Break that comes to most people‘s mind when they think of Jamaica. If you are not looking to party all night, drink all the alcohol you can get, sun bathe & swim all day, then Alternative Spring break is for you.

For high school and college students looking for International Service learning opportunities during Spring break Jamaica has it all.

Here are just a few of the ways you can make a difference:

Teaching assistant Volunteer
If you enjoy teaching and love the thrill of making a difference in the lives of young people, come to Jamaica and volunteer as a teacher. Working in schools will offer the shortcut to make fast friends while learning about the Jamaican food, language and culture.

Volunteer in an Orphanage
Do you love working with children and want to share your love? Volunteer in an Orphanage and share your interest and skills with young people. Jamaica is a poor country with a high level of unemployment. A trip around the city and towns on the island will see many children especially young boys who are out of school. Many of these end up in Orphanages and Government Homes and are waiting on someone to give them hope.

Building Maintenance
Do you like to work with your hands doing carpentry, painting, plumbing or other general maintenance work? If you do, come to Jamaica and be part of a team that will make a difference in repairing schools and orphanages.

Alternative Spring break offers students a chance to get real world experience, explore career options and build a resume while making a true difference in the lives of the people you help. And you’ll have fun swimming in the crystal clear Jamaican waters, climbing waterfalls and eating spicy foods.
